Europa-Park, Rust, Germany, has opened the world's first Roam & Ride virtual reality (VR) coaster, Eurosat Coastiality. Guests will be immersed in a VR world before and during the ride by donning a VR headset during the Eurosat Coastiality preshow, which will remain on throughout the duration of the ride. Physical sets match the virtual display and avatars of other visitors. Guests even board the coaster trains while wearing the VR headsets.
The ride is set in the universe of the French space opera "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets." The walk along the railway bridge, the entry into the roller coaster car and the subsequent ride are all part of a unique VR experience.
