Happy New Year! ACE’s winter events are a great way to meet new friends and recently I found a quote, “There are no strangers here, only friends you haven’t yet met.” Where we used to be in a wintertime coasterless desert (don’t laugh Florida and California), most of the country now has a park open through the end of the year. The “off-season” has shrunk down to a break. While this may reduce the off-season events’ impact, they are still great for networking and I’m looking forward to attending many and meeting new friends.
At the November IAAPA Expo we successfully opened up the ACE booth team to include new people. We had a diverse group of ACEers informally helping out the official delegation, and now I’d like to open up the invitation for this year. If you are an active ACE volunteer during the year and would like the opportunity to help meet and greet the industry in the IAAPA Expo booth, let me know in October and I will request a guest pass for you (there is a limited number of passes available).
And like many reading this, I’m also anticipating 2019 by booking travel for the Kentucky and West Virginia Preservation Conference, California’s Coaster Con 42, and the Summer Conference in New England, along with several regional and park sponsored events. With the help of Chris Kraftchick, Jerry Willard, and the regional reps, the new ACE website events calendar is an easy one-stop shop to help me plan my year.
So, to all those strangers I haven’t yet met, welcome! There are lots of opportunities to make new friends thanks to ACE!
