On June 1, 2019, 30 ACE members and guests from three states met at Fun Spot America (Orlando) for the first-ever White Lightning 10K. Before the riding marathon, attendees enjoyed a full day at the Orlando park to experience Fun Spot’s amazing attractions, such as Freedom Flyer, Hot Seat and Sea Serpent. To ensure the racers had the stamina to finish their laps, participants were treated to a buffet dinner consisting of barbeque pulled pork, hot dogs and fresh salad.

At 6:30 p.m., racers received their instructions and ride-counting lanyard. Each guest needed to complete 16 rides on White Lightning to travel 10 kilometers of track. After each ride, riders received a hole punch in their lanyard cards, which tracked their progress. The official race started at 7 p.m. with an air horn blast, and riders quickly queued up into an exclusive ACE member line for White Lightning. Attendees were able to experience a special ERT for almost 3 hours. This special session shared the coaster with the general public by providing a single train to be used exclusively by ACE members and a second train to be used by the general public.

The first ACE member to complete the challenge was George Taylor from Central Florida. He completed all 16 rides with a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes. After members finished their challenges, they were awarded with a winner’s medal and an exclusive event T-shirt. The staff of Fun Spot America made this event exceptionally fun and entertaining. ACE Florida and participants thank the event coordinators, operations managers and operational staff of White Lightning for welcoming ACE and providing the group with such an enjoyable marathon event. Members look forward to having more riding marathons in the Florida region!
