Hersheypark (Hershey, Pennsylvania) had teased fans with renderings of its new themed entrance and Chocolate Town expansion months ago. What looked like a Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) megacoaster in the artwork turned out to be just that.

On Wednesday, July 24, Hersheypark announced it would be building the park’s 14th coaster for 2020: the longest, tallest and fastest coaster in the park to date, Candymonium. Skyrush from Intamin has held those claims since 2012. The B&M hypercoaster will feature three trains decorated in the colors of everyone’s favorite candies: Kisses, Peanut Butter Cups and Twizzlers. Candymonium will reach a height of 210 feet. Dropping at 76 mph, the steel giant will soar over 4,636 feet of track that span seven acres. Ride time is expected to be two minutes and 26 seconds.

“We worked with leading industry manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard to assemble a one-of-a-kind hypercoaster with the most airtime of any coaster in Hersheypark,” said John Lawn, president and CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company.

The layout is touted to feature seven camelback hills and a 123-degree hammerhead curve. ACEers on site could confirm the ride has gone vertical with some track pieces in place. Candymonium will be placed near the new entrance to Hersheypark in Chocolate Town. One of the iconic features of Chocolate Town will be the new Kisses Fountain. Candymonium will encircle the fountain making for great photo ops. The track is milk-chocolate brown.

Candymonium will be the second roller coaster supplied by B&M at Hersheypark, following Great Bear (1998). The coaster is scheduled to be open in time for ACE’s visit during Coaster Con 43 next June. Sweet!
