From the President - November-December 2020

I’ve come to realize that, at least for me, the internet is a double-edged sword when it comes to my coaster enthusiasm. Anybody else ready to celebrate the end of 2020? If so, count me in! And with the end of the year comes the holiday season and the need to find gifts for those you love, even if you can’t be with them in person.

First up, when thinking about fellow coaster enthusiasts, you can give them a personal welcome with a gift membership in ACE. Go to join.aceonline.org or contact our association manager to purchase a gift membership. Or you can add an additional member to upgrade your membership type to include your entire household. And don’t forget to invite these new members to join you for your next ACE event or activity.

Another idea for a year-long gift is a copy of the annual ACE calendar from our online store. With 12 months to enjoy photographs from ACE’s photo archives, you’ll be able to both reflect back on previous adventures and plan forward through a year full of great coaster photos.

Many historians and fans have written books about this wonderful industry we love. Peruse through recent issues of ACE News and check out the interesting book reviews. You just might find that right gift for a friend and also support the efforts of authors documenting the amusement industry at the same time.

And our ACE General Store is always online for members who wish to buy ACE shirts, hats, jackets and more. You can proudly display your membership in the club, and with Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the horizon, I’m pretty sure there will be some deals to be had around the Thanksgiving holidays.

Another way to give back is to participate in the various online communities of coaster enthusiasts. ACE is an active participant in many popular social media outlets, and your participation and enthusiasm will help the community grow and learn. Use the hashtag #RideWithACE to highlight all your online communications. You might also think about volunteering in the future. Your actions will both benefit the club and also bring you lifelong friendships.

Enjoy the holidays! Stay safe. Be healthy. See you in the queue.
