Tayto Park Granted Approval for 2 New Coasters

On March 26, Tayto Park, Ashbourne, Meath, Ireland’s only theme park and zoo, was granted approval for the construction of two new steel intertwining roller coasters.

The coasters represent a total investment of €15 million [US$17.7 million] and will represent the largest single investment in the parks 11 years in business. Noise reduction methods to secure approval were an additional €1,500,000 [US$1.77 million] investment.

Roller coaster details (both reportedly from Vekoma):

  • Suspended Coaster
  • Length: 748 meters (2,454 feet)
  • Height: 31 meters (101 feet)
  • Capacity: 1000 people per hour
  • Speed: 100 kph (62 mph)

  • Boomerang
  • Length: 221 meters (725 feet)
  • Height: 24.2 meters (79 feet)
  • Capacity: 720 people per hour
  • Speed: 70 kph (43 mph) forward and 60 kph (37 mph) backward
