It was time to celebrate as 26 ACE members and guests observed Zippin Pippin’s 10th birthday on September 25 at Bay Beach Amusement Park (Green Bay, Wisconsin). The day started with an hour of ERT on Zippin Pippin. The 2011 wooden coaster was running great and never disappoints.

Following ERT, attendees went to ride the park’s new Ferris wheel, the Big Wheel. From the Big Wheel, the view is breathtaking as you can either look across at the park or at the bay of Green Bay. Next, there was a Giant Slide competition. Members raced down the slide while sitting on burlap sacks. After a few heats, the winner of the competition was Iayne Ferris.

After building up an appetite from the slide competition, everyone enjoyed lunch. The park was gracious enough to donate two 125 Year Bay Beach banners and a 10 Year Zippin Pippin birthday banner. Dan Planert and Brandon Welch were the lucky raffle winners of the 125 Year Bay Beach banners. George Hinkes won the auction for the 10 Year Zippin Pippin banner.

Jason Arnoldi, general manager of Bay Beach, spoke with the group during lunch. Following the meal, attendees rode the train before heading out to explore the park further.

ACE members who have never visited Bay Beach should definitely plan to experience this amazing park. Where else can you buy 25 cent tickets and ride a roller coaster for $1.00? The park has been around for 129 years and will hopefully be around for 100 more. All in attendance were thankful for everyone who assisted with setting up before the event started, as well as all the workers who came in early and those who assisted ACE throughout the day at Bay Beach Amusement Park.
