Six Flags Announces Details for Two New Roller Coasters
New-for-2023, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Georgia have announced Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster, a single-rail dueling kids’ coaster. The rides will be manufactured by Skyline Attractions, the same company responsible for SeaWorld San Diego’s Tidal Twister ride. Both coasters will be themed to the Kid Flash intellectual property, adding to Six Flags parks’ deep collections of DC-themed rides. Both rides will include two independent tracks, making them the first racing coasters in each state. The attractions will also feature an innovative LED light package, which can display different colors, graphics or theming elements.

Slated for a spring 2023 opening, Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s (Virginia) DarKoaster roller coaster has been creating buzz for its unique theming and park-supplied teasers. The ride is touted by the park as being the world’s first all-indoor straddle coaster, featuring four launches and almost 2,500 feet of track. For a sneak peek of the work that went into creating this ride, Busch Gardens has opened a preview center in the Oktoberfest section of the park. Here, one can view images and exhibits detailing the process that Busch Gardens’ designers took to reach the current theme and experience.

Knoebels (Elysburg, Pennsylvania) is adding a reconstructed Bayern Kurve. The ride model features single-person bobsled seating and speeds around a tight, curved track. The ride resembles a coaster in some senses, though its short layout and lack of gravity power exclude it from the classification. Bayern Kurves used to be much more common, yet now there are only three left in the United States. At Knoebels, where restoring nostalgic rides is a passion of the family who runs the park, a Bayern Kurve is being rebuilt and restored, ready for generations of thrill seekers to enjoy. It is hoped that the ride will open in the 2023 season.

The land will feature immersive theming, a flat ride and a launched Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster, Mandrill Mayhem. The ride will include a shuttle LSM-launch, winged seating and a twisted spike.

For the 2023 season, Six Flags St. Louis is adding Rookie Racer, a kids’ coaster. The ride will be manufactured by Vekoma, joining its sister coasters across the world, since this installation will be a clone. The ride is sure to be a hit for aspiring thrill seekers and family audiences alike. Acting as an introductory thrill coaster, Rookie Racer will feature a low 36-inch height requirement, the lowest of any coaster in the park, allowing the youngest of guests to enjoy the thrills of a roller coaster.
