On Sunday, February 19, 28 attendees gathered at Fun Land of Fredericksburg for ACE Day at Fun Land (Fredericksburg, Virginia). To start the day, attendees met General Manager Clint Novak for an exclusive walking tour of the go-kart track, Thunder Speedway. At the top of the track, multiple group photos were taken, including one with a drone!

Then attendees got a look at the maintenance shed of Fun Land’s new-for-2023 flat rides: Patriot Plunge, a family-friendly, bouncing, rotating drop tower, and The Fl!p Side, a hair-raising inverting pendulum with sustained hangtime and airtime.

After the tour, attendees were able to go into the park and enjoy a well-rounded, thrilling assortment of rides, including a dizzying SBF Visa Figure 8 spinning roller coaster called Twist-n-Shout, a challenging-yet-rewarding ropes course, zipline, a couple of fun climbing walls, a children’s oval Nascar-style go-kart track, a fast and fun multilevel go-kart track (Thunder Speedway), Scrambler and Tubs of Fun.

The Fl!p Side and Patriot Plunge had a preview from 12 to 5 p.m. For those not interested in rides, Fun Land also has more than 100 arcade games, batting cages, free-for-all laser tag and mini golf.

At 1 p.m. attendees gathered for a delicious and filling all-you-can-eat lunch with pizza, fries and garlic cheese curds and, for dessert, amazing cheesecake and delicious brownies. Also at this time there were door prizes and an information session and Q&A with Novak, during which he reviewed the process Fun Land went through to build Thunder Speedway, Patriot Plunge and The Fl!p Side. This process included setbacks and delays that came with planning and installation, the cost of Fun Land’s rides and games and the process of expanding to create an additional Fun Land in Fairfax, Virginia.

After lunch, once again attendees were able to go into the park, and during the one informal takeover time, attendees had a fun and spirited game of laser tag. Attendees were grateful to Fun Land, Novak and ACE Mid-Atlantic for hosting a wonderful event!
