On Saturday, September 16, 64 ACE members and their families and friends arrived at 10:30 for Seaside Hangover at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Originally named for being the event following one at Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, New Jersey), Seaside Hangover’s move to the middle of September treated attendees to cooler temperatures and an absence of heavy summer crowds at the popular Jersey shore destination.
An hour of ERT on Hydrus — Casino Pier’s Euro-Fighter — was a highlight of Seaside Hangover 2023.

Following on-site registration, ACE New Jersey Regional Representative Bret Ulozas announced the three winners of a raffle to perform guest DJ duties at the pier’s indoor Scrambler, Centrifuge. Starting at 11, attendees enjoyed ERT on it as well as the Shore Shot S&S tower and three of Casino Pier’s roller coasters — Hydrus, a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 320; the Hot Tamales L&T Systems Mini Coaster; and the SBF Visa Big Air Coaster, Xolo Loca. The last was particularly popular with attendees who appreciated the short line for the Hamster Wheel car that transformed the family ride into a thrill machine with inversions.

Casino Pier’s newest coaster, Xolo Loca, offered attendees the option of riding in spinning cars or the inverting Hamster Wheel.

When Casino Pier opened to the public at noon, attendees enjoyed the majority of the ride lineup including Disk’O, Musik Express and the towering 131-foot-tall Ferris wheel which provided fantastic views of the seaside resort area. (Unfortunately, the indoor Pirate’s Hideway roller coaster/dark ride did not open as planned.) Event registration also included a journey up and down the boardwalk on the scenic Sky Ride (typically an upcharge attraction) past the soon-to-open new home of the historical Dr. Floyd L. Moreland Dentzel-Looff Carousel as well as a 25 percent discount on all Casino Pier eateries serving boardwalk treats.

When Casino Pier opened to the public for the day, many attendees used their Sky Ride tickets for a relaxing journey up and down Seaside Heights’ famous beach and boardwalk.
