On Saturday, September 30, ACE presented the newest honorary membership to Scott Short for his dedication, hard work and long-time contributions to ACE.
Scott exemplified ACE’s volunteer spirit, having served in a range of leadership positions. Shortly after joining the organization in 1996, he became active in the Northern Ohio Region, an involvement that continued as the region evolved — first as an assistant regional representative and then as the regional representative. When Ohio was consolidated into one region, Scott continued to lead, hosting the region’s famously fun holiday parties in alternating years in the Cincinnati and Cleveland areas. The region continued to grow, transforming into the Eastern Great Lakes Region while absorbing the Michigan Region.

Scott strengthened ACE’s Executive Committee with his valuable participation. First as the coaster census director, he strove to maintain this resource in the early internet age. Scott then accepted the responsibility for all information systems as the organization’s first membership services director. With Scott’s help, email communications were simplified, internet services were consolidated and ACE was better able to respond to members’ needs. This role also included merchandise and member benefits. Scott was the first and last director to have such an expansive role, as the club determined that the position should be split in two, with Scott becoming the club’s initial operations director.

All the while Scott guided the club through uncharted waters, he also built a loving family, becoming a father with his wife and three sons. Scott’s ACE family thanks him for his dedication and celebrates his accomplishments in always making things better.
