Twelve years ago, Goliath, a giant inverted boomerang, made its debut at Six Flags New England (Agawam, Massachusetts). It thrilled riders though 2019 and, once removed, left a large, open, grassy area, which for the past few years has served as a walkthrough maze area during the park’s Fright Fest season and, more recently, an area with Adirondack chairs for viewing fireworks.
That acreage is about to become occupied with Quantum Accelerator — the park's 12th coaster and the first dual-launch straddle coaster in New England, offering a blend of high-speed excitement and captivating steampunk adventure.

Riders will mount a unique steampunk-themed hover bike vehicle, straddle the seat and lean forward, gripping handlebars. The ride begins with the first launch, sending riders into a series of twists, turns and ground-hugging curves. Midway through the ride, a second launch accelerates the train to 45 mph, adding another layer of excitement to the journey.

“Quantum Accelerator will add to the family thrill ride experience at Six Flags New England,” said Pete Carmichael, Six Flags New England’s park president. “With its dual-launch system and unique straddle seat design, this coaster is set to become a favorite for guests of all ages.
