For years, coaster fans have salivated over footage of Gravity Max, a unique Vekoma roller coaster at Discovery World (Houli Hsiang, Taichung, Taiwan) featuring special “tilt track” that tilts riders to a 90-degree position high in the air before dropping them on to a new section of the course. It seemed as if this model would be a one off, but a few years ago, Vekoma announced that the concept would be coming back and employing its new train and track designs. The wait was on to see if/when a North American amusement park would get one of these new models.

The wait is officially over, as 2025 will see the opening of Circuit Breaker not only at Cotaland in Austin, Texas, but also in the Roller Coaster Capital of the World. Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, just announced a tilt coaster of its own with Siren's Curse!

Themed to the sirens that allegedly haunt Lake Erie, Siren's Curse will be the tallest, fastest and longest tilt coaster in North America. Beyond its record-breaking status, Siren's Curse also brings onboard audio and LED lighting to complete its storytelling package.

Riders will begin their journeys with their trains climbing a 160-foot-tall lift hill designed to look like a shipping crane tower. From there, the track will tilt 90 degrees to face straight down. Once released by the holding brake, riders will try to outrun the sirens across 2,966 feet of track with 13 airtime moments, two zero-G barrel rolls and a triple-down element.

The rendering provided by Cedar Point shows Siren's Curse being across from Iron Dragon. The removal of the large stage and grandstands will change the look of the midway. The ride will also necessitate a rerouting of Resort Drive. The press release provided by the park says guests need to be 48 inches tall to ride.
In other coaster-related news, the park also confirmed Top Thrill 2 will reopen to guests during the 2025 season, which means it and Siren's Curse will bring Cedar Point's coaster count to an incredible 18 coasters once the addition opens in the early part of the 2025 season.
