On April 5, Walibi Holland (Biddinghuizen, Flevoland, Netherlands) unveiled YoY, a world’s first in roller coaster innovation. This dual-track, single-rail coaster from Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) offers riders a choice between two distinct experiences: the adrenaline-pumping "Thrill" track and the more relaxed "Chill" track. ACE Europe was invited to the grand opening.

The more intense thrills of the green “Thrill” track include inversions such as corkscrews.

What are the differences in experiences?
YoY Thrill is designed for those craving intense excitement. The ride includes six inversions, such as a barrel roll downdrop, zero-G stall and corkscrews, reaching speeds up to 50 mph (82 km/h) and forces up to 4G. Riders have praised the hangtime during the first drop and the dynamic layout that delivers a thrilling experience throughout.

YoY’s two different layouts cross each other many times and even come together in a high five element that allows interaction between riders.

YoY Chill offers a more relaxed ride without inversions, making it suitable for families and those preferring a gentler experience. Despite the absence of inversions, it still delivers excitement with sharp transitions and tight corners, reaching speeds up to 49 mph (80 km/h) and forces up to 3.5G.

With green symbolizing nature and blue symbolizing water, YoY’s theming is unique. The entry icon is constructed from wood left over from when the park’s Robin Hood coaster was transformed into Untamed.

Theming and Design
The theming of YoY contrasts elements of water and plant life, subtly conveyed through design features like a sculptural tree at the entrance. While some have found the theming abstract, others appreciate the unique aesthetic that adds to the ride's charm.
Final Thoughts
YoY at Walibi Holland stands out as a groundbreaking addition to the park, offering two distinct experiences that cater to a wide range of guests. Whether one is seeking the intense thrills of YoY Thrill or the more subdued adventure of YoY Chill, both tracks provide memorable rides that highlight innovative coaster design.
