Coney Island’s Luna Park has welcomed its eighth roller coaster, called Tony’s Express, as of Friday, September 9.
The new family-friendly roller coaster spans 1200 feet of twisting track and travels around the upcoming log flume, Leti’s Treasure, at a speed of more than 30 mph.

Tony’s Express honors the rich history of Brooklyn, New York’s Coney Island by mirroring the vehicle design of America’s first-ever roller coaster, the Switchback Railway.

The new coaster pays homage to Luna Park’s nickname from the early 1900s, “The Electric Eden,” with the glowing station house and twinkling lights along the archways and track. At night, the coaster is quite the spectacle. Whether on the ride itself or looking at it from afar, visitors see an incredible view.
The area now called Luna Park has been bringing attractions, entertainment, shopping and dining to New York City for more than 130 years. The addition of Tony’s Express will only add to the park’s fun festivities that have been taking over the boardwalk for more than a century.
