Coming to Kennywood in 2019 will be a record-breaking roller coaster, Steel Curtain.
The towering coaster will rule Kennywood's skyline with a record-breaking nine inversions, a 197 foot-tall loop and a 220-foot maximum height. Steel Curtain will speed across 4,000 feet of track at 75 mph.
Designed by S&S Worldwide, Steel Curtain will break a Pennsylvania record (tallest roller coaster), a North American record (most inversions), and a world record (tallest inversion). The coaster's name reflects Kennywood's partnership in this project with the hometown Pittsburgh Steelers – the first collaboration by a professional sports team at an amusement park.
Ground has already been broken for Steel Curtain, with the first pieces of track to arrive at Kennywood this month. It is expected that Steel Curtain will open during the 2019 season.
