West Coast Racers, the world's first racing launch coaster, is slated to open in 2019 at Six Flags Magic Mountain, in Valencia, California.
The three-minute journey covers terrain-hugging, side-by-side tracks with riders sitting two abreast on sleek West Coast Customs-designed cars. The course includes multiple airtime hills, extreme high-banked turns and over/under near misses. A highlight of the ride is a real time 'pit stop' designed to provide riders with a racing experience (no change of tires, though).
Ride features include the following:
- A record-breaking four magnetic launches, including a side-by-side first and second race launch
- Four total inversions: three zero-G rolls and a zero-G stall
- 14 track crossovers and a "high-five"
- Side-by-side airtime hills and overbanked turns
- Speeds up to 55 mph
West Coast Racers will be located in a new LA centric, urban-themed area with a high-energy street vibe. The area currently includes Apocalypse and the Cyclone 500 Go Karts, which will undergo re-theming.
