The Executive Committee (EC) met on June 16, 2019, in Valencia, California. Listed below are some of the meeting highlights:
Vice President Jeff Niemiec planned an information table at Six Flags Magic Mountain during the convention to be staffed with volunteers. The purpose of this table is to showcase ACE as an organization and to recruit new members.
Treasurer Cheri Armstrong reminded the EC to spread the word that ACE participates in Amazon Smile. Anyone making a purchase through Smile can choose ACE as the beneficiary of the purchase and ACE will receive .5 percent of the purchase price.
Communications Director Elizabeth Ringas has assembled a display of roller coaster history. She is looking for public places where it can be displayed. The exhibit can be modified to fit differently sized display cases, from small to one as large as a walk-in closet. The display includes signage indicating that the exhibit is provided by ACE. It will increase the club’s visibility in communities.
Member Services Director Scott Short confirmed that ACE membership is approximately 6,000 strong. The club is on an upward trend for recruiting new members.
Preservation Director Dave Dragun reported that the history and preservation team is working on a proposal for an ACE Hall of Fame to increase knowledge of roller coaster history by honoring defunct rides, parks and designers. Mr. Dragun has assembled a team, and this initiative is still in the planning stages.
Region Director Chris Kraftchick reported that ACE has hosted 82 events in the last 12 months.
Coasting for Kids events are going well. ACE has a goal of raising $100,000 for Give Kids The World.
The communications team will launch ACE’s first podcast on August 16, 2019, in honor of National Roller Coaster Day.
