For many, Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer. This year, nearly 50 ACE members and guests gathered at Schlitterbahn South Padre Island (Texas) to celebrate the end of summer at the ACE South Central region’s BeachCon event.

Although the event did not formally start until Sunday, Schlitterbahn invited all attendees who arrived on Saturday to enjoy complimentary admission to the park. That evening, guests were able to savor the sunset overlooking the beach, while indulging in free hot snacks. Park management welcomed attendees, and after announcing the park’s new name — Beach Park at Isla Blanca — assured everyone that the South Padre facility looked forward to continuing the relationship formed with ACE over the years.

Bright and early Sunday morning, attendees gathered atop one of the hotel’s towers at Sea4Ever for a hearty breakfast and group photo. Then it was off to the park for ERT on three of the park’s signature Master Blasters: Tempest, Storm Chaser and Gale Force. Once the park opened, members and guests continued to enjoy the many offerings at this creative destination. The unique design of this water park allows for almost every attraction to be experienced without getting out of the water. Riders traverse the park’s river and paddle to floating queues that lead to conveyor belts that lift riders onto the various slides, returning them to the “transportainment” river to float to their next attraction.

Later that evening, everyone gathered at the park’s signature table service restaurant, The Shrimp Haus, to enjoy one of the many (you guessed it) shrimp dishes for which the facility is well known. Following dinner, attendees were treated to ERT on the park’s Boogie Bahn and the Screaming Eagle zipline.
All too soon, Labor Day weekend and BeachCon came to a close. However, attendees at this year’s event would all agree that everyone had a great time bidding summer farewell at Schlitterbahn South Padre Island.
