Christmastime in Texas is never the same. It can be 86 degrees and sunny, 50 degrees with high winds, 36 degrees with a threat of rain … or anything in between. But when it comes to San Antonio, the weather is typically pretty nice. For ACE South Central’s Feliz Fiesta 2019 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas on Saturday, December 14, it was perfect — 78 with crystal-clear skies. Combine great weather in a great park with almost 100 happy ACEers, and you have one awesome event!

After check-in, the park walked ACEers back to Superman Krypton Coaster for an hour of ERT on one of the greatest floorless Bolliger & Mabillard coasters on the planet. For those who wanted a break from riding, the park offered a walk-through of The Joker’s elaborate funhouse queue. (Even for those who do not like giant spinning pendulum flat rides, The Joker’s funhouse queue is a treat all by itself. It is a Jeffrey Siebert production after all.) ACEers gathered for a quick group photo before enjoying first rides of the day on the wonderfully wicked Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster. The trains on this single-rail hellion of a coaster move so fast along the circuit that they look like CGI animations sped up by 30 percent (but it’s real life). This Rocky Mountain Construction coaster is bonkers, but that’s why it is so fun and so re-rideable!

The park gave ACE four hours to enjoy Holiday in the Park before big holiday crowds showed up in the evening. Afterward, Fiesta Texas treated ACE to a great holiday dinner with turkey, ham and all of the trimmings. Before heading to the Rockville tree-lighting ceremony, each attendee received a Six Flags Holiday in the Park Christmas tree ornament normally reserved for Six Flags membership holders. After the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony (with carols, lights, fireworks and even Santa), ACEers had 90 minutes to explore the park at night with all of its music, characters and many, many lights. The park reserved ACE VIP seating for its spectacular “The Majesty of Christmas” show. When a performance has singers, a donkey, three wise men, goats, flying angels, a camel, a shepherd with a voice that can move mountains, a story for the ages and the baby Jesus, “majestic” is the only way to it.

The park then treated ACE to a 40-minute reception with glow sticks and a variety of snacks and soft drinks, including hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. Attendees took their glow sticks and added dayglow necklaces and wristbands before a park escort to the Crackaxle Train Depot. Once there, the park’s train became the exclusive ACE Dayglow Christmas Train, where attendees sang carols and waived to park patrons as the ACE train went around the park. While the official part of Feliz Fiesta was over, the fun (unofficially) was not. Six Flags Fiesta Texas invited all attendees to the park’s Six Flags membership celebration, where ACEers got a bonus hour of snacks, soft drinks and ERT on Iron Rattler and Roadrunner Express. By this time, the temperature had fallen below 60 and the winds had picked up, so most of the Six Flags members had left the park already, which meant ACE had ERT almost exclusively to themselves. ACE’s wonderful day and night at Six Flags Fiesta Texas could not have gone any better.

The ACE South Central regional rep team thanks Jeff Filicko, Ron McKenzie, Jeffrey Siebert and the entire Fiesta Texas team who made Feliz Fiesta 2019 one uniquely awesome holiday-time event!
