Jersey Devil Coaster, at Six Flags Great Adventure, took its first full test run Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Engineering and maintenance experts at the Jackson, New Jersey park are completing extensive testing on the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest single-rail coaster.
At 13 stories tall and attaining speeds up to 58 mph, Jersey Devil Coaster will fly riders single file through the woods over 3,000 feet of track.
Key features of the coaster include the following:
- Four sleek trains of 12 passengers each sitting low and inline style (one rider per row) with their legs straddling either side of the monorail track
- A total of 3,000 feet of soaring, single-rail, I-beam track
- A 130-foot lift hill
- Speeds up to 58 mph
- Intense elements, including a steep 87-degree first drop and overbank cutback
- Three dramatic inversions including a 180-degree stall, raven dive, and zero-gravity roll
Extensive ride testing, inspections, and New Jersey state certification will be completed before the first passengers board the ride. The park will announce an opening date for the coaster soon. In the meantime, you can check out the official test video
