On a warm August 14 morning, 45 ACE members stood outside the entrance to Typhoon Texas (Houston) preparing for a fun-filled day. Admission tickets were distributed along with a catering wristband good for a delicious BBQ meal, a fastpass wristband to allow for shorter waits and a drink refill wristband along with a cool Typhoon Texas souvenir drink bottle for free drinks all day.

Once all items were distributed, the group was led into the park to drop off items at a reserved pavilion and then back out into the park for a behind-the-scenes tour of some of the inner workings of the waterpark. First stop was the pump room for the wave pool and one of the slide towers. As attendees walked among the pumps, filters and pipes, ACE’s tour guide, Jesse, shared his knowledge about the workings of the waterpark as he led the group toward the wave chamber for the wave pool. Once there, Jesse explained how the wave pool worked, which was of great interest to many in attendance, as this was ACE’s first tour of the backside of a wave pool. The next stop was the pump room for the lazy river. Again, members were able to walk through all the inner workings of the system that runs the lazy river while Jesse explained the operation and answered any questions.

Next on the schedule was an hour of ERT. The group was led to each slide tower and allowed a couple of rides before moving on to the next slide tower. By the time ERT ended, all the major rides had been ridden without having to wait in any lines.

Once the park opened, everyone had some time for rides on their own before lunch. Because of COVID-19 considerations, the buffet provided at past events was skipped, and lunch was a BBQ brisket sandwich with all the trimmings, chips and a cookie.
Following lunch, the group gathered for a photo near one of the slide towers before heading back into the park to enjoy the rest of the day and take advantage of the free fastpasses. Members could be seen coming and going throughout the afternoon to the reserved pavilion to take breaks between rides. Even at a waterpark, it was still plenty hot and a shaded area in which to relax was a great perk of the event.

Thanks were given to Sarah Herold with group sales for putting together a fun event for ACE for a great value for everything that was offered. Appreciation was also given to Jesse and all the Typhoon Texas staff who worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time! ACE South Central looks forward to returning again in the future!
