The Executive Committee (EC) met on March 12 and 13, 2022, in Irving, Texas. Listed below are some of the meeting highlights:

  • The schedule for the ACE Spring Conference has been finalized. Events Director Steve Berto reported that it includes robust ERT sessions. Registration was anticipated to open soon after the meeting.
  • In lieu of a Preservation Conference in 2022, the digital events team is planning to host an online event. While ACE regrets this will not be an in-person event, owing to challenges securing an appropriate venue, it is hoped a unique opportunity will be created to celebrate the organization’s preservation efforts.
  • Vice President Jeff Niemiec highlighted that ACE was the largest fundraiser for Give Kids The World in 2021. The dates for this year’s Coasting for Kids events have not yet been announced.
  • President Robert Ulrich announced that the second inversion from the Arrow loop coaster at Canobie Lake Park has been donated to the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives. Plans are to incorporate the track into the main entrance to the museum.
  • The EC accepted a proposal to fund a documentary about the history of ACE. Filming for Connected by Coasters is expected to begin in the spring.
  • “ACE’d It,” a plan to recognize park representatives and personnel who help to make ACE events great, was presented by Vice President Jeff Niemiec and approved by the EC.
  • The EC approved a motion to consolidate the Southern California region with Arizona and Nevada, formerly of the Southwest Region, to create the Pacific Southwest Region.
  • The region consisting of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico will be renamed the Rocky Mountain Region.

This meeting recap is not the official minutes of this meeting. Upon approval of the minutes by the EC, they can be found at aceonline.org.
