Nancy McGrath of Massachusetts passed away on December 8 at the age of 70.

Although she was born in New Jersey, she had the unusual circumstances to grow up in Venezuela. Later in life, she briefly lived in Egypt.

Along with roller coasters, Nancy had a love for photography, jewelry making, learning languages and a cappella music. She was known as being an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Nancy joined ACE in 1985 and didn’t shy away from getting involved with ACE. She became a part of the RollerCoaster! editorial team, eventually taking on the role of editor.

Honorary member Lisa Scheinin recalled: “I believe she preceded me as editor. She was extremely easy to work with, very friendly and helpful as she prepared me to step into her shoes. We spent hours on the phone discussing articles. We became friends and did at least one major coaster trip together (1992, I think), through the southern states. She was a great traveling companion, and we had a blast.”

Utilizing her many talents, Nancy wrote an edition of Fodor’s Travel Guide to Egypt still in print in the early 1990s.

Those who enjoyed her articles, her company or a ride on a roller coaster alongside her will dearly miss her.
