It was a bright, clear and sunny spring morning on the shores of Lake Erie, in Sandusky, Ohio, when Cedar Point opened its newest roller coaster, Wild Mouse, at 10:30 a.m. on May 4.

Walking along the boardwalk with Gatekeeper to the left, the beach and Lake Erie to the right, toward Windseeker, seeing the new Grand Pavilion brought thoughts of what this area might have looked like years ago on the shore.

Once inside, all were greeted by a huge, colorful BOARDWALK sign and several acrobatic performers. The bright colors of the Atomic Scrambler, Matterhorn and Calypso have been added to the new area of Cedar Point, revitalizing a section of the park formerly home to Wicked Twister.

The new Boardwalk incorporates existing rides such as Calypso and Cedar Point’s iconic Giant Wheel.

The largest component of the Boardwalk is the Zamperla-supplied Wild Mouse steel coaster, ideal for coaster lovers young and young at heart. It features six mouse-themed cars and one cheese-themed car. The cars travel along 1,312 feet of orange track with 360-degree spins, twists and turns. Wild Mouse is Cedar Point’s 18th roller coaster.

Wild Mouse appears fun and charming, operating with six mouse-themed cars and one resembling a block of cheese.

The Boardwalk also includes the new Grand Pavilion — a new waterfront restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating areas. The downstairs menu features sliced roasted turkey breast, pork loin, beer battered fish, funnel cake-battered shrimp, several cold salads, fries, a tropical fried rice and dessert. The upstairs bar area offers many tasty appetizer menu choices along with beverages, as well as awesome views of the beach, Lake Erie and Cedar Point.

The tasty offerings at the Grand Pavilion are certain to satisfy most cravings.

Breathe in the Boardwalk. Experience everything old and new Cedar Point has to offer.

While not towering over some of Cedar Point’s other rides, the wide appeal of Wild Mouse will surely make it one of the park’s more popular attractions.
