Coaster Con isn’t just about riding coasters; it’s also an opportunity to recognize those who have made a considerable contribution to ACE over the years. On June 22, during the opening night buffet at his home park of Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bill Graves learned that he was ACE’s newest honorary member. If he was surprised, he shouldn’t have been, because his contributions as ACE’s former treasurer, Election Nominating Committee member and behind-the-scenes worker on ACE’s organizational structure over many years have benefited ACE in countless ways.
His plaque reads as follows:
“ACE celebrates Bill Graves as an honorary member for his significant contributions and unending dedication to ACE. Bill, a member for more than 30 years, contributed his financial and logistical expertise through volunteer service as our treasurer and a key member of the Election Nominating Committee. After his service as treasurer, he continued to serve on the Finance Committee for 10 more years.”
“Bill’s service was never limited to the daily tasks of his role. He was a valued member of many impactful projects, including moving ACE to an online voting platform, constantly reassessing election procedures, educating the Executive Committee on understanding financial reports, negotiating contracts and developing procedures for credit card use and compliance. Bill has always exhibited an unending dedication with his consistent attendance at both national and regional events, along with a willingness to contribute toward any project.”
