Yeehaw! On Saturday, August 10, 32 ACE members attended a sunny, fun-filled Wild West Fun Day at Adventure Park USA in Monrovia, Maryland. Of those 32 attendees, it was the first ACE event for four people and for 19 attendees, their first time visiting the park. The event was a fantastic value since the price was less than the cost of an all-day RIDEpass/FUNpass and included ERT, lunch and prizes throughout the day.

The day began with ERT on the park’s three coasters — Wildcat, Wild West Express and Tumbleweed.

There were so many adventures to enjoy. After check-in (which included an opportunity to buy ACE merchandise), there was an hour of morning ERT on the three coasters: Wildcat, Wild West Express and Tumbleweed. The highlight for many was Wildcat, which originally opened at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (Virginia) in 1976, and after operating at other parks, opened at Adventure Park USA in 2007. The coaster is featured in ACE’s documentary “Legacy of Schwarzkopf,” which will debut this fall.

Adventure City USA’s new indoor ropes course was a hit with some of the event’s more adventurous attendees.

Once ERT on the three coasters was complete, attendees enjoyed the park’s other activities, including go karts, bowling, arcade games and a newly installed ropes course with a zipline. Throughout the day, attendees also participated in group laser tag and ACE’s mini-golf tournament, which was won by Holden George.

Welcomed by ACE Mid-Atlantic Regional Representative Evangelos Ringas, attendees enjoyed all the park had to offer, including a mini-golf tournament.

Participating in all these activities, attendees worked up an appetite and were treated to a delicious BBQ lunch that also included mac ‘n cheese, beans, cookies and an assortment of beverages. Following lunch, names were drawn for door prizes, including $30 play cards for Adventure Park USA and ACE merchandise, such as T-shirts and water bottles.

ACE Mid-Atlantic extended gratitude to the great staff at the park including Brandon D’Shen, who was the region’s point of contact; Nate, who managed the food; and Seth from maintenance, who filled in for a Q&A because Erik Stottlemyer, owner, and Jason Branchman, general manager, were both ill. ACEers had a rootin’, tootin’ good time!
