RES Rides of Switzerland recently opened its newest and largest Roller Ball coaster at Conny-Land in Lipperswil, Switzerland. Named Antares, the coaster is the largest of its kind as well as one of the most elaborately themed.

Roller Ball models — of which four others are in operation, including Roller Ball at Wiener Prater in Vienna, Austria, are similar in concept to Intamin's ZacSpin or S&S's 4D Free Spin coasters and have freely flipping cars. While Intamin's and S&S's variations tend to involve a lot of inversions, RES Rides' approach is more family friendly and does not typically fully invert riders. Other models in operation include Roller Ball (winer Prater, Vienna, Austria) and Fireball (Adventureland, Long Island, New York).

With a compact footprint and family-friendly thrills, RES Rides’ Roller Ball model is an ideal fit for countless amusement parks.

Owing to space limitations, Antares was ingeniously constructed on top of a bumper car arena, placing two family attractions in a very small plot of land. Hopefully more models of this coaster will find their way to North America in the near future.
