If you ever found yourself asking “How far would a coaster enthusiast go for a new credit?” Well, the answer is pretty simple; especially after experiencing today’s preview of Aquaman: Power Wave in the low 40s temperature.

Six Flags Over Texas held its exclusive ride time for pass holders on February 25 and 26. Many riders expressed their excitement to experience the park’s newest ride- regardless of the temperature. This 712-foot track PowerSplash, which is the first-of-its kind to be built in North America, features two 148 foot spikes at ninety degrees.

Located near the front of the park, this Mack “Power Splash” multi-launch shuttle water coaster features three launches. The two orange and green cars (which can hold up to 20 passengers) start at its turntable station. This simultaneously allows riders to load on one side (with automatic lab bars) and launch on the other side. The first launch starts backwards, then next launching forwards, and lastly launching backwards up 148 feet, then falling into the splash track. This Power Splash uses LSMs (linear synchronous motors) to launch riders up to 63 mph with more than 2,000 hps.

The splash track, to simply put it, is a 'pool' of water located at the bottom of the track. Once the car passes that pool, launching up the tower for the final time, the pool fills with water, allowing the car to 'splash' once it falls downward and rides over the track while also acting as a natural brake. Afterwards, the water is then released back into the main reservoir (where the rest of the water surrounds the ride).

From many park-goer experiences, the front of the car will leave riders soaked, while the middle is considerably more 'dry'. The back of the car will have the most air-time.

The park’s 14th roller coaster will officially open to guests on spring break, March 11-19, 2023.
