I'm guessing since it only ran for that one season it didn't do to well. With the weather being so unpredictable and Sandusky itself being rather small it didn't have a ton of people making the trek and filling up the park.

Cedar Point once hosted a winter event that lasted only one year. In 1994, they held Christmas in the Park, of which the Midway Carousel was the only ride open. The Park Plaza gift shop and Sweets n' Treats candy store were open, and a horse-drawn carriage offered tours of the park. There were some singing groups and Santa in a Magnum XL-200 car, as well.

I don't "consider" Cedar Point home, but that's because I grew up at Kings Island. And we all know Cedar Point would basically have to be enclosed in a dome to have Winterfest. But now my brain is Thinking.
If Cedar Point ever had Winterfest, I'd imagine their parades and entertainment would be absolutely off the hook. Kids could meet Santa in the front of the park, but I also bet that Frontiertown would be gorgeous during that time of the year. The equivalent rides would be open, but can you imagine Christmas in Boneville? That would be an attraction onto itself.
Coaster wise, Blue Streak and Gemini strike me as ones that would be open no matter what. I bet Gatekeeper wouldn't be atrocious in the cold, and Wild Mouse and the kids' coasters could run. I know better than to try to get on anything bigger than Magnum in that weather.
* Please also imagine unlimited staff and supplies, in addition to the magic dome that prevents lake effect snow from ruining everything.

With Winterfest just around the corner I thought I'd look to those of us just a bit further north who are not fortunate enough to partake in this wonderful event... If you call Cedar Point or Michigan's Adventure your home park, what coaster would you like to experience when it's just a bit colder? Everyone talks about buck list night rides, what about that buck list winter ride?
For me, with Michigan's Adventure as my home park I would love to ride Wolverine Wildcat and look over the water as I go up the lift hill. I imagine the other side being decked out for the holidays, it would be a sight to behold!
