  • 1.  Night Ride on the Beast

    Posted Jun 22, 2025 10:14 PM

    Hey all,

This Wednesday will be my first time ever stay at King's Island til close. A night ride on the Beast is definitely a bucket list item for me. Any tips or tricks that I need to do in order to get one? I remember hearing someone once say something about getting to the entrance before they set off the fireworks...

    Hey Robert,

I can't remember if they shut the entrance but they do pause operations before the fireworks (I want to say they stop 10-15 minutes before the show).  Once they get the call clear from operations, they'll restart.  Just to be on the safe side, I'd recommend getting in line around 9:40.

    Enjoy your ride!
    Brian

Operations typically pause between 9:30 and 9:35, but everyone in line by 10:00 gets to ride after they get the all clear following fireworks. Those wanting to get one of the last rides of the night often gather just inside the queue starting around 9:45.

Given that it's your first visit, definitely not a bad idea to play it safe & get there early - just know you'll be waiting awhile.

Thank you for the info... we've been to the park a few times, but it we have never been there after dark so we definitely don't want to miss out on the opportunity! Sounds like we will be in for a long wait, but it sounds like it will be worth it!

Let us know what you thought. Nothing like a night ride on the Beast and having ridden it since it opened in 1979, I can tell you that it is running better than it has for more than two decades with the recent track work. Enjoy!

We got on our night ride last night!

First off, thank you all for your advice, we love this community of enthusiasts!!!

The Beast is running great, much better than 4 years ago when we last rode it. We were on a wheel seat near the back and the little extra bite just made for a more chaotic and amazing experience. The Beast is a fine coaster during the day, but the beast truly comes out at night!

Thank you all for helping my daughter and I share in this amazing memory together!

    Congratulations!

Did you have any problems with the cicadas at Kings Island?  Will be there Monday and need to mentally prepare myself, lol.

The cicadas are gone. You will likely see dead ones on the ground and maybe a stray who didn't get the memo, but for the most part they have made their departure.

No issues with cicadas,  there were a few fireflies out there, but it actually added to the vibe.

No need to mentally prepare.  Just enjoy! 😀
