March Executive Committee Meeting Highlights

The Executive Committee met March 9-10, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. Listed below are some of the meeting highlights:

  • Association Manager Jeffrey Seifert shared that for the first time in recent memory ACE has members across all 50 states with new members in North and South Dakota.

  • A Frederick Ingersoll historical marker, the fabrication and installation of which were funded by ACE, will be dedicated on April 27, 2019, along Kennywood Boulevard in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, across from Kennywood. Ingersoll was the designer of four of Kennywood’s defunct coasters. All members are invited to the dedication.

  • Communications Director Elizabeth Ringas and the communications team are partnering with the Crayola Experience to roll out ACE events for young families. Fun Spot America (Florida) and Funland of Fredericksburg (Virginia) will be part of this series.

  • Vice President Jeff Niemiec has organized a youth council to focus on young member engagement, which has 11 members ranging in age from 11-31. Adam Napotnik is the chairperson.

  • At the 2019 ACE Preservation Conference Big Dipper at Camden Park (West Virginia) will be honored as an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark.

  • At Coaster Con 42, the Rubber Ducky Regatta, Annual Business Meeting and photo and video contests will take place on Tuesday at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Steve Berto is finalizing the schedule, and hotels are booking quickly.

  • The 2019 ACE Summer Conference will begin on Friday evening, July 26, 2019, at Funtown Splashtown USA (Saco, Maine). Arrangements for check-in are being made for those who wish to arrive early. Additionally, Palace Playland (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) will be offering discounted tickets to ACE members.

  • The April issue of ACE News will be the final issue delivered by mail. New editions will be available in a weekly format online. Applicable ACE membership dues have been rolled back by $15, and regular membership expiration dates have been extended.
