There are only two weekends left to take a ride on Kings Island's Vortex before the steel roller coaster retires at the end of the season.

Vortex has been a guest favorite at Kings Island in Mason Ohio, for 32 years. It debuted April 11, 1987, as the tallest full-circuit roller coaster with the highest drop in the world and the first roller coaster in the world with six inversions. While most coasters of this type typically last 25 to 30 years, Vortex is currently in its 33rd season.

Throughout its life, more than 45 million guests have ridden Vortex. And sometime during the amusement park’s Halloween Haunt and Great Pumpkin Fest, the steel coaster’s 46 millionth ride will be given. Only six attractions have given more rides since Kings Island opened its gates in 1972.

For the rest of the season, both 2019 and 2020 Gold and Platinum season pass holders can take an exclusive early ride on Vortex on Saturdays and Sundays before the park opens to the public.

Guests can enjoy their final rides on Vortex October 19-20 and 26-27.
