2022 is an interesting year as roller coaster construction feels as if it is continual — which is a good thing. New coasters seem to be opening every month.
Here’s a look at some that are preparing debuts this summer or later this year.

Almost as if with Amazonian speed, Rocky Mountain Construction’s (RMC) newest single-rail coaster is rising into the sky at Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, California). Slightly longer than its counterpart in New Jersey, the colors match the original single-rail coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio), Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster.

Another RMC creation is taking shape as construction sprawls on ArieForce One at Fun Spot America Atlanta (Fayetteville, Georgia). The red, white and blue structure stands 155 feet tall. Once open, the ride will speed passengers through four inversions and multiple airtime moments at 64 mph.

When Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park (Glenwood Springs, Colorado) welcomed ACEers at the 2021 ACE Preservation Conference, it combined the event with the groundbreaking ceremony of Defiance. The new Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter is now rising on the side of the park’s mountainous terrain. The unique setting offers an additional moment of thrills to several of the park’s attractions.

While no official word has been given on the arrival of new trains, the structure appears complete, and the red, white and blue paint scheme has draped the ride in American colors. Standing at 108 feet tall (the park’s tallest), American Dreier Looping was first seen on the fair circuit in Germany beginning in 1984. Since then, it has had various homes, with Indiana Beach (Monticello) being its most recent. There is no official word on when the Schwarzkopf legend will open or even if it will be during the 2022 season, although the park’s website seems to indicate that it will. In the meantime, Cyclone, a portable fairground-type coaster, has opened on the site of the park’s former Galaxi.
