On Saturday, September 2, seven ACE members from four states (Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia) attended Rumble at the Beech ’23. The event was held at Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The weather was perfect to kick off the Labor Day weekend.
After check-in, attendees were able to go behind the scenes of the Kentucky Rumbler. Park representatives allowed guests to view the engine and storage room before touring the area of the coaster. Following this, attendees enjoyed 45 minutes of ERT on the 2006 Great Coasters International, Inc. wood coaster before the park opened to the general public.
Once the park opened, there were informal takeover times (ITOTs) on the SBF Visa Group Spinning Out coaster, Haunted House and Zamperla Wild Mouse. The last ITOT was a welcome cooling off from the upper-80-degree temperatures on the park’s log flume, Whitewater Express. Each attendee received a card for a free meal within the park.
ACE Midwest Regional Representative Bob Redman presented Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon with a plaque honoring its late owner, Dallas Jones, who was responsible for the park’s growth including Kentucky Rumbler seen here being enjoyed by attendees.
The highlight of the event came at noon when Regional Representative Bob Redman presented a plaque honoring the late Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon owner, Dallas Jones, who passed away earlier this year. The plaque mentioned the park’s welcoming nature regarding ACE members and wished it continued success.
