August 16 is National Roller Coaster Day. Quite often, it is a day when announcements for the upcoming year are made. In 2025, that wasn’t really the case. However, in place of announcements, there were some pronouncements — as in “I do” and “I now pronounce you…”
Enthusiasts having a coaster wedding isn’t necessarily rare. When two people share a passion for something — and, yes, roller coasters certainly qualify — having that joint connection make its way into an official ceremony can be almost natural.
Meet the Quirky Coaster Couple. They are two ACE members who are fortunate enough to create their own story — a good one.

Nick Carlos and Kelly Corbitt met at a theme park, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, to be specific. In 2017, a call for volunteers to be involved in a commercial shoot involving the virtual reality complement on the park’s S&S tower found the two individuals arriving a bit late and hurrying to the appointment from the parking lot. During those hours, the two enjoyed talking with each other. Once the filming was done, Nick invited Kelly to ride some coasters, starting with Iron Rattler.
For a month, they talked regularly at night, which Nick admits stirred up long-lost “high school butterflies.” They met at the park to take more rides. Five weeks after the commercial shoot, Nick decided to show his true feelings and kissed Kelly on the lift hill of Iron Rattler. It was the beginning of a long, long ride.
Following the COVID pandemic, the two were attending a “black carpet event” in October, with skeletal gaiters accenting their formal attire. A photographer happened to capture them, and the two wound up on the cover of a local newspaper.
Over the years, the two adopted the name The Quirky Coaster Couple, and with each ACE event they attended, they arrived dressed in whimsical flair. It is no surprise then that the couple decided to do their wedding in style, so perfect for the fun people that they are.
The venue, fittingly, was Six Flags Fiesta Texas on August 16. The theme: steampunk.
The ring bear brought a chuckle. The electric violinist played beautifully. To the theme from “Jurassic Park,” a dinosaur followed the bride down the aisle. Assistant Regional Rep Chip Siezcko was the handler.
Many attendees arrived in steampunk garb, and the wedding party looked both sharp and ultra-cool. Audience members could only beg to wear those outfits at some point in their lives. An electric violinist played beautiful music as guests entered the Zaragoza Theater. As the ceremony began, it was clear, this wedding was one for the books. It wasn’t a ring bearer, it was a ring bear — which everyone was delighted to see — a bear walking down the aisle! Along with a dinosaur trailing the bride. ACE South Central Assistant Regional Rep Chip Sieczko was the official T-Rex handler.
If Nick and Kelly wanted guests to smile at their wedding, they succeeded! It was off to an auspicious start.
The couple’s chosen officiant was a friend who made up his own ceremony and vows. Only a small portion of the audience were coaster enthusiasts. But those who weren’t ACEers picked up on the coaster terms and lingo quickly enough to have fun with it. The officiant described Nick as a wood coaster, with solid structure. Kelly was described with the artistic beauty of a steel coaster. Together, they became a hybrid. Awww.
Fun vows, right??

Following the ceremony, cocktails and dinner were served in the theater lobby and courtyard. As closing time for Fiesta Texas arrived, the wedding party had reserved seating for the fireworks finale.

Upon its conclusion, the park cleared, but wedding guests found their way to Crackaxle Canyon, the steampunk area of the park. Who wouldn’t love ERT on their wedding day? Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, Iron Rattler, Road Runner Express and Daredevil Dive Flying Machines all had attendees cheering and laughing.

The happy couple takes a ride on Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger.

It was truly the type of wedding that people will talk about for years. ACE couldn’t be happier for the couple and wishes them a nice, long ride of marital happiness.
Nick and Kelly still kiss on the lift hill of every coaster.
