Coaster Con 45 Executive Committee Report

The first Sunday of ACE’s annual Coaster Con is always a flurry of activity. From registration to orientations, perusing the general store to signing up for Midway Olympics, and a whole lot more, there is no shortage of opportunities for members to get involved. In addition to the visible volunteers who were making Coaster Con happen, others were sequestered in a nearby meeting room around a 12-person table for an all-day meeting focusing on planning the next national events and the future of ACE.

During the spirited exchange among the Executive Committee, members swiftly navigated through a series of critical motions including welcoming Aric Austermann as operations director, approving minutes from the March 2023 Executive Committee meeting and greenlighting the ACE Fall Conference to take place at Lagoon Amusement Park (Farmington, Utah) and S&S Worldwide (North Logan, Utah) at the end of September.

The heart of the meeting embraced ACE’s Strategic Plan, which involved a review of each working group’s and subcommittee’s progress on a specific task. Discussion of the Strategic Plan allowed Executive Committee members to update the group on their progress, road blocks and new initiatives. Comprising around 120 actionable items, nearly every facet of ACE that affects the member experience was scrutinized and improved with the intent to provide a better organization for all members.

In the area of new business, the bimonthly compilation of ACE News was discussed with options for revisions. Suggestions turned into plans to celebrate members, a charted course for future events and an intention to ensure the value of ACE membership. There was a spirited discourse on disciplinary matters and procedures for selection of the Coaster Con logo. The committee’s dedication to inclusivity shone through.

As the ACE Executive Committee meeting came to a close, those in attendance spoke of feeling invigorated and dedicated to helping the club move forward together. Following this meeting, the Executive Committee members got to join their fellow ACE members to ride some roller coasters.
